Gouka Seishi, Rilakkuma Valentines Day

In 2007 Japan San-x Store Valentine Love Rilakkuma, view more here.

In Japan Valentine’s Day I think is mostly a day when females present chocolates to male counterparts for love or courtesy. Usually hand made chocolates are given too, but these of course mean more when given to someone the girl likes.

The males usually return the favour/courtesy of chocolate they received on Valentine’s Day on White Day (ホワイトデー Howaito dē, one month after Valentine’s Day on March 14th). You can find out more on Wikipedia here.

Kit Kat even release a Valentine’s Day Kit Kat to celebrate this day:

I found this post through the Food in Japan J. Festa–I also blogged about taiyaki back in February! It wasn’t my submission to the Festa, but it was fun to read your post–especially about the history of the taiyaki. Thanks!
