Video: Unveiling of the event (Japanese).
Earlier this week on Tuesday, Japan’s first budget airline named Peach was launched. You can visit the official website here.
The name of Peach is meant to “show positive images, energy and youthfulness”.
The airline will provide low-cost travel 365 days a year, making it a better alternative to many of the other airlines in Japan which charge a higher price for even short haul flights.
The colour scheme is different to most of the other airlines such as ANA and JAL, and for some reason the colour scheme isn’t really Peach. I still like the colour scheme, which works well with the font chosen.
Quote from WSJ:
Strangely, the color scheme of the airline’s interior is not peach-hued, but rather a light shade of magenta. The outfits for cabin crew are surprisingly casual by Japanese standards, with the women cabin crew outfitted in – gasp – trousers instead of the traditional skirt, scarf and heels combo favored by the country’s two dominant airlines: Japan Airlines and ANA.
At this time the airline has a fleet of 10 Airbus A320 aircraft on order, and the airline is affiliated with ANA (All Nippon Airways) who currently own a 33.4% stake in the airline. The airline aims to carry around 6 million passengers by 2015.
Flights will start from its hub airport in Osaka (Kansai International Airport) from no later than March 2012, if all goes well to destinations such as: Sapporo, Fukuoka and to Seoul by May 2012.
