If you fancy something different, why not try Modern Toilet in Taiwan.

Modern Toilet, Taiwan

Modern Toilet is a restaurant originally opened in 2004 based in Taipei, but more chains have since opened up all over Taiwan and even in Hong Kong. There are rumours that there are restaurants in Japan, but I can’t seem to find them.

I liked the introduction on their own website in English.

“We are a group of “muckrakers” following our dreams. It all started when one of us was reading the manga, Dr. Slump on the toilet – and the rest is history. In the beginning, we mainly sold ice cream – a big pile of chocolate ice cream sold in containers shaped like a squat toilet. This humorous spin became a great success.”

You can view the website Modern Toilet website here.

The food served in the restaurant looks pretty interesting, even if it is served in toilets.

Although from what I have read the food has mixed views, apart from being a little off-putting with the way it is served.

One reviewer by a user on SG Way of Life called Elmo_pooh said:

“Overall, the food isnt that fantastic… infact the ice-cream is the worst. An ice-cream w/o milk at all!! only ice.. no chocolate flavor at all.”

but the other review seemed better which I found on the Times website by Natalie TSO which can be found here.
