Studio Ghibli’s film Arrietty is due for release in the UK Cinema’s on July 29th.
The film was released last year in Japan under the name Karigurashi no Arrietty (借りぐらしのアリエッティ) and
is based on the novel “The Borrowers” by Mary Norton.
Arrietty Trailer:
Arrietty will be released in two different English versions, with different cast for the UK version and the US version.
Arrietty Cast:
The UK cast will include the voice’s of: Saoirse Ronan, Olivia Coleman, Tom Holland & Mark Strong.
The US cast will include the voice’s of: Bridgit Mendler, Will Arnett, Carol Burnett & Amy Poehler.
I’ve read that the film is scheduled for release on August the 26th in the UK, although the official website as mentioned above says “IN CINEMAS JULY 29TH”. The film has already been released in France back in January of this year, and the US release date is scheduled for February 17th, 2012.
In other news US manga publisher Viz Media has acquired the rights to Arrietty The Borrower Story by Hiromasa Yonebayashi, and will release comics in two volumes.
