Cars 2 (カーズ２) is the sequel to the 2006 film Cars (カーズ) by Disney Pixar.

The film is out today (22nd July 2011) in the UK, the 24th in the USA it say’s and will be out in Japan on the 30th of July.

In Cars 2 the main characters Lightning McQueen & Mater the tow truck travel to Japan & Europe to compete in World Grand Prix.

McQueen enters the World Grand Prix and then gets sidetracked in international espionage with Mater.

In the image above the blue car neon sign makes me think of the Glico Man sign in Osaka.

I love how the film has been promoted and the end of the trailer where Mater get’s shocked by the toilet system? The film has many more characters, due to the fact that this is a Worldwide race and even celebrities like our own Lewis Hamilton (The Formula 1 driver) made a guest voice over for his character below..

I thought his car would be a Formula 1 car, but instead the character has a striking black and yellow paint scheme. In the film Lewis Hamilton represents Great Britain in the World Grand Prix. His car also carries the flag of Grenada, home to his family who emigrated here to Britain in the 1950s.

The other main characters include:

Shu Todoroki

A Le Motor Prototype representing Japan.

Okuni

A micro car Kubiko dancer.

Kingpin Nobunaga

A professional Sumo wrestler at an arena in Tokyo, Japan who wears his lucky purple mawashi.

Pinion Tanaka

Another professional Sumo wrestler from Tokyo who wears his signature teal mawashi.

Zen Master

A master in the art of sculpting the serene zen rock garden at the Tokyo Museum.

Soundtrack:

For the soundtrack the Japanese electropop band Perfume attended the premiere of Cars 2 in California on July the 18th due to their song “Polyrhythm” featuring as part of the Cars 2 soundtrack.
