Earlier this year Coca-Cola Japan and the Japanese Red Cross installed one hundred donation boxes in vending machines in June of this year (2011).

If you have never been to Japan, when walking along any street you can’t escape the vending machines are bright and always full of random drinks.
The idea for these machines to collect the money to donate to relief fund for the March 11th Earth Quake and Tsunami is unusual, but also better I feel than from cans or coffee which can be usually found in the vending machines.
Although this post is a little late, with the vending machines collection boxes only being available to September 30th 2011, you can still donate to the Japanese Red Cross.
As can be seen in the video above the vending machines allowed the user to donate using two options, in ¥10 or ¥100. If you listen closely to the video, you will notice it saying “Thank You” in Japanese.
